My juvenile received a citation for Possession of a Small Amount of Marijuana charge and “Drug parapheranalia in one county. Previously (6 months ago) went through a diversion program in another county for shoplifting. Should he get an attorney?
Yes, absolutely. An attorney would be able to review the terms and conditions of the diversion program as well as handle the new charge. It may be that the new charge doesn’t affect the diversion. More realistically, the new charge probably does violate the terms and conditions of diversion. In that case, there may be two cases riding on the outcome of the drug charge.
Therefore, it would definitely be best to speak to an attorney to protect your child’s rights and record.
